Firefighters were called around 11.30am today (May 1) to a blaze in a ground floor store room in St Mary’s Hospital.
The evacuation was a precaution as smoke gathered in the building on Winsland Street and there were no reported injuries.
About 60 firefighters in eight engines from Paddington, North Kensington, Euston and surrounding fire stations extinguished the hospital fire around 12.30pm.
The cause of the fire in under investigation.
It is the third fire in the Paddington area in as many days, with a major blaze at a substation in Maida Vale on April 29.
The next day (April 30) a school also in Maida Vale was evacuated when the roof caught fire.
In all three fires, which were responded to by a collected 220 firefighters, there was only one injury.
A woman was treated at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee School in Kennet Road by the ambulance service.
It is believed that the cause was accidental with a full investigation still underway.
The substation fire the day before required 100 people to be cleared from nearby homes while a major incident was declared.
The fire spread briefly to a nearby building but was contained, with an investigation into this fire being carried out in collaboration with the police.
While the three fires happened within miles of each other, there is no suggestion they are linked.
