Police have placed cordons around Hallsville Quarter in Hallsville Road, after the knife attack on Saturday (March 1) at about 8.35pm.
At the scene, a 17-year-old boy was found with stab injuries.
He remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition, the Metropolitan Police said.
Today (March 2) police remain at the scene with cordons in place.
Images show blood on the floor, along with items scattered across the crime scene.
Officers are patrolling the area assuring the safety of others there.
One resident, who wishes to be anonymous and says they have lived in Canning Town for a decade and Hallsville Quarter for four years, said “muggings, theft and violent crime are a constant reality” in the area.
Living at a flat overlooking the crime scene, the local said: “My neighbours and I are terrified.
“We have been pleading for better security for years, yet nothing changes.”

They added: “This is a tragedy, but it is not a shock. It is yet another consequence of a knife crime crisis that has been spiralling out of control for years.”
Six people have been arrested in connection with the investigation.
The section near the Tian Tian Market and Lidl shops has been taped off.
