From the moment the curtain rose, I was transported straight into Cher Horowitz’s world of Beverly Hills high school drama, friendship, and, of course, killer outfits. The musical, based on the beloved 1995 film, takes the timeless story of Emma by Jane Austen and reimagines it with a fresh, fun twist and is currently showing at The Trafalgar Theatre. Clueless: The Musical is currently playing at the Trafalgar Theatre (Image: Poppy Huggett) With Amy Heckerling, the writer and director of the original film, overseeing the project, it’s clear that this version stays true to the cheeky, fashionable spirit of the…

Hayley Jones, 34, was a prison workshop officer at HMP Belmarsh in Thamesmead when CCTV footage caught her kissing, touching and playing with McSweeney – who was serving a life sentence for the brutal sexual assault and murder of 35-year-old Zara Aleena in Ilford. Footage also showed the pair leaving rooms which had no CCTV whilst adjusting their clothes. In a letter which was intercepted by guards, McSweeney told another prisoner that he had been “f***ing the fat thing from the workshop” for 10 months. He also claimed she had been providing him with contraband such as a phone, “man was…
From November 1, 2025, businesses in certain areas will need planning permission to convert their premises into homes. The council confirmed the new rule, known as an Article 4 Direction, on March 6. This development follows a prior notice issued in September of the previous year. The Article 4 Direction stops the automatic right to change the use of a building from commercial (Class E) to residential (Class C3) in specified areas. It means businesses and services in those areas will now have to apply for planning permission to make such changes. The direction applies to major centres such as…

Billie Wicks was taken to the Royal Free Hospital in September last year, but because she was not regularly observed at the “understaffed” hospital, the severity of her illness was not recognised, senior coroner Mary Hassell said. Billie then died on September 15 after being “inappropriately discharged”. In a prevention of future deaths report, Ms Hassell said: “Billie was inappropriately discharged at approximately 3.30am without adequate repeat observations or senior clinical review, and so her asthma was not diagnosed or treated. “If it had been, she probably would have survived.” Ms Hassell drew comparisons to the case of Daniel Klosi, aged…

The building, which sits at the junction between Richmond Road and Canbury Park Road, is Grade II listed. One eyewitness called Chelsey, who did not give her surname, told this paper that she was alerted to the fire…
