Officers from the Metropolitan Police were dispatched to New Road at 8.18pm on April 25 following reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.
At the scene, a 45-year-old man was found suffering serious injuries.
He was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition with potentially life-changing injuries.
A spokesperson for the Met has confirmed today (April 27) that he remains in hospital but his condition is now stable.

There have been no arrests and enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
