Hornchurch High School in Broadstone Road was visited by Ofsted on February 5 and the findings were published on April 7.
The report said the school has kept its standards since it was rated ‘good’ in March 2019.
According to inspectors, the school supports pupils to “develop confidence and resilience” and pupils are “well supported in their personal development, including through assemblies and during time in tutor groups, which helps to prepare them for life in modern Britain.
“Pupils are guided to understand the importance of healthy relationships, mindfulness and online safety.
“As a result, pupils are encouraged to avoid risks and look after their mental health and wellbeing.”

As well as personal development, the curriculum was deemed “ambitious” and allows pupils to build knowledge “cumulatively”.
Staff check routinely that pupils know the curriculum they have been taught, Ofsted said.
Inspectors said that pupils at Hornchurch High School have “high aspirations” and are “motivated to do well and supported to make careful choices about their future”.
“Pupils achieve well in a wide range of subjects and, as a result, are well prepared for the next stage of their education, employment or training.”
Leaders were also found to have embedded an “effective behaviour policy” that is well understood and consistently implemented by all.
The report noted that pupils behave well in lessons and listen attentively to their teachers and each other and the school has created an inclusive culture, where pupils are taught to “respect and celebrate difference”.
A spokesperson at Hornchurch High School said: “Given Ofsted’s changes this academic year, the outcome of this monitoring visit (section 8) was the best possible outcome.
“Under new leadership over the past two years, the school has gone from strength to strength, with the best GCSE performance to date paired with an Ofsted report which highlights we are a school with high expectations, an ambitious curriculum and an inclusive culture.
“School improvement never stops; we want the best education for our young people.”
