Yates, in South Street, will close this Sunday (June 15) for a two-week long refurbishment and rebrand.
The Craft Union pub will relaunch on July 2 as The Crowning Angel, with a new bar and calendar of events.
The overhaul also includes a new sports zone upstairs, a smart darts area, a private bar available for hire and a new DJ booth and sound system.

A Facebook post announcing the closure said: “We’re closing our doors for a two-week refurbishment — but this isn’t just a glow-up. It’s a rebirth.
“After the break, we’re coming back bigger, better, and bolder… as the brand new crowning angel (sic).”
It added that the pub is hosting “one final massive party” to “send Yates off in style” on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14.
A grand opening is also planned for July 2 at 10am.
Yates closed for a refurb on March 4, 2024 after being taken over by the Craft Union Pub Company, reopening a week later with a new bar section and entertainment schedule.
