Yates, in South Street, will close this Sunday (June 15) for a two-week long refurbishment and rebrand – reopening on July 2 as The Crowning Angel.
The Craft Union pub is set for fresh décor and “stylish” new furnishings throughout, as well as “state-of-the-art” lighting and sound.

Yates has now confirmed that the new upstairs sports zone will feature two full-size pool tables and three dartboards, complete with two electric score boards.
General manager of the pub Eliza Griva Alloway called the refurb a “major transformation happening right in the heart of Romford’s nightlife scene”.
She said: “This Sunday marks the final day of trading for Yates Romford as we currently know it.
“After decades as a cornerstone of the local high street and nightlife, the venue will be closing its doors for a two-week refurbishment – but it’s far from the end.
“We’re thrilled to announce that on July 2 the venue will reopen with a brand-new name, look, and energy.”
Yates will be hosting two “farewell parties” this Friday and Saturday (June 13 and 14), as well as several reopening events, including a soft launch on July 4 and grand opening on July 5.
