Woolwich Works, in the Royal Arsenal, has revealed its “Noise Makers” programme, which will feature a variety of free, paid, and “pay what you can” activities.
The fun will begin on Friday, February 15, with “Taylor Swift Reimagined (Strings Version)” – a unique concert blending the magic of Taylor Swift’s most iconic songs across The Eras from the City String Ensemble string quartet.
The audience will help shape the night and influence the set list, as they will vote and decide on select songs live.
On Friday, February 21, at 12pm, Woolwich Works will host “A Tribute to the UK’s Premier Tribute American Youtuber, and viral sensation, ‘Ms Rachel’ with Fun for Little Ones Live.”
With over 5 billion views and over 8 million subscribers on YouTube, ‘Ms Rachel’ is the biggest viral sensation to hit our children’s screens since ‘Baby Shark!’.
Presented by Fun for Little Ones and aimed at ages 0-5, the show will bring Ms Rachel’s character to life in a fun and interactive live performance with lots of interactive audience participation, puppetry, and animation.
From Tuesday, February 18, to Thursday, February 20, parents of under-fives can bring them to Toucan Theatre’s The Noisy Dinosaur, a multisensory and fully relaxed and accessible journey of friendship, teamwork, and play, bringing to life the Cuddly Jungle with puppetry, music, lights, and sound.
The Noisy Dinosaur has lost its ROAR!
Join Dino and a whole host of comfy creatures as they work together to find their voices and make some noise.
Also from Friday, February 14, to Monday, February 24, Woolwich Works will host Let’s Make Some Noise, an exhibition of artwork by students from local Plumstead primary and secondary Willow Dene School over the course of the half term.
The students have been thinking about what it means to be a ‘noise maker’, reflecting on how we experience sound, as well as how we create it.
They have been exploring this subject through the visual arts, responding to and taking inspiration from the sounds around us.
This display brings together the results of this unique whole school project, exhibiting artworks from 37 classes, and presents a range of artistic techniques used to creatively respond to the theme.
Parents can bring their children, on a pay what you can basis, to Woolwich Works at 2pm daily from Tuesday, February 18, to Thursday, February 20, for a 2.5 hour Crafternoon: Noise Makers! session in the Workers Bar – children ages 2 and up will turn up the volume as they create innovative instruments this half term.
Liat Rosenthal, head of creative programmes, said: “At Woolwich Works we’re committed to turning the volume up on family programming, this half term we’re calling on all London families to make some noise – whether it’s singing along with your favourite songs with YouTube sensation Ms Rachel, joining the Noisy Dinosaur for theatrical adventures, or creating your own shake, rattle and roll in our Pay What You Can Crafternoons.”
Woolwich Works is a multi-disciplinary events venue set across multiple buildings in the historic Royal Arsenal in Woolwich.
The landmark venue opened its doors in September 2021 and was quickly named London’s “best new culture spot” as well as the “best connected venue in London.”
