Woolwich Church Road: Major emergency response with cordons in place

Multiple emergency vehicles were spotted in Woolwich Church Road at around 3pm today (January 7).

Picture, obtained by the News Shopper, shows police cars and ambulances with cordons in place surrounding a bus.

(Image: Contributor) Bus routes 161, 177, 180 and 472 are currently on diversion as the incident is being dealt with.

The nature of the incident remains unknown.

We have contacted Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service for further information.

The full statement from AA maps says: “Road closed and queueing traffic due to police incident on A206 Woolwich Church Street both ways from Church Hill to A205 South Circular (Woolwich Ferry Roundabout).

“Detour in operation – bus Routes Affected: 161, 177, 180, 472.”
