Woodland Wanderers Montessori Forest School is an inspiring and forward-thinking Preschool setting for children aged 2 plus where children are always experiencing ‘awe and wonder’ for themselves through the rich and varied curriculum; children’s learning stems from not only Forest School and Montessori work cycles, but one where children experience hands on experiential learning through regular ‘work experience’ sessions embedded within the community.
The ethos of also supporting children to learn about the natural world and how to care for their environment stems from the company’s vision to embed sustainability in the Early Years building foundations for the future.
Woodland Wanderers proudly highlights its eco-conscious operation, inviting families to experience a nurturing, sustainable environment defining this as adopting “low-waste policies”, including the use of natural materials and sustainable practices. Its home from home environment provides a bespoke curriculum where learning truly comes alive contributes to its highly regarded reputation and its popularity has soared since opening 3 years ago.
It’s a place where three-year-olds beckon their Forest School teacher into the quiet magic of the woods—lifting leaves to reveal ‘the slime mould,’ wondering aloud about ‘the fruit of the hawthorn seeds,’ and imagining how ‘the ash from a campfire might nourish the trees.’
Woodland Wanderers will be holding a ‘Forest school in Action’ Morning in early 2026, where prospective parents can bring their children to experience the magic of the outdoors:
1) Jan 29th: 10-11am – ”Campfire Session” for children to enjoy an outdoor nature session (a warm breakfast on a campfire will be served)
2) March 24th: 10-11am – ‘Earth Hero session’’ where the children get to engage in Earth Art, Stone Painting and play in an ‘Earth Cafe’
*Catering to children aged between two and five years old, the nursery’s mission statement is to ” To help children develop respect and awareness for themselves, others and the world around them, making a lasting impact on their sense of identity, purpose and capability. “.
Area manager Noelle Jaggassar said: “We love to encourage children to connect all parts of their world—home and nursery, indoors and outdoors. When these experiences come together, children can grow in a natural, joyful, and balanced way.
It’s through this kind of learning that they develop into confident, curious, and caring individuals, ready to explore and embrace the world around them.
The established nursery attracts parents from further afield such as Muswell Hill and Crouch End. Its curriculum is rooted in “respect for the child and the planet”, taking inspiration – from Italian educator Maria Montessori.
She believed “there is no description, no image in any book that is capable of replacing the sight of real trees and all the life to be found around them in a real forest”, a statement that is at the heart of the Woodland Wanderer’s principles.
Existing parents, many of whom have come through word of mouth and often from the sister nursery (Woodentots) located on the same road have described the nursery as being “child-led, having a range of activities that spark curiosity, and being led by a team of nurturing practitioners who really care for the whole child’.
Woodland Wanderers emphasises its “strong family partnerships, local collaborations, and service learning. Staff say that this creates “a deep sense of connection, responsibility and mutual respect”.
Prospective families can book ‘Forest School in Action’ open days and trial sessions, giving children a chance to experience the setting firsthand. To book, visit www.woodlandwanderers.info or email office@woodlandwanderers.info
