A planning application has been submitted to Haringey Council to transform the upper level of the car park at The Mall Shopping Centre, High Road, Wood Green, London, into a padel sports centre.
The application, which is currently under public consultation until January 29, proposes the change of use to local community use, with associated internal works estimated to cost up to £2m.
If approved, it aims to start construction in February 2026.
No new buildings or height increases are proposed in the application, but there will be a net loss of 91 car parking spaces, given the site’s current use as a car park.
Eight cycle parking spaces are planned.
The proposal also includes employing two full-time and six part-time staff.
The centre plans to open Monday to Sunday, from 7am to 11pm, including bank holidays.
The application was submitted by Social Sports Society with JMS Planning & Development Ltd acting as their agents.
