Leisure centre provider Vision RCL has announced plans to open a new women-only fitness space at Mildmay House, in Mildmay Road, called Serenity Ilford.
A currently unused space at the premises will be refurbished and converted into a facility dedicated to women’s health, fitness and wellbeing.
It will feature a fully-equipped gym floor – complete with cardio and strength-training machines – fitness classes ranging from yoga to HIIT, and personal training programmes.

On-site beauty treatments will also be offered, including facials, massages and manicures.
Cllr Vanisha Solanki, deputy leader of Redbridge Council, called Serenity Ilford a “safe, supportive, and empowering space” for women to “exercise, relax, and thrive”.
Cllr Solanki said: “We’re delighted to be shortly opening a new facility for women in the heart of Ilford, where they can escape the pressures of modern life by taking part in a range of fitness and wellbeing classes.
“We recognise that this is a market we need to tap into, and that’s why we’re providing this space where women can enjoy their leisure time in a safe and calm environment.”
The gym aims to meet the “increasing demand” for female-only fitness spaces in Ilford, according to Redbridge Council, following the “success” of women-only sessions at Loxford and Mayfield Leisure Centres.
Serenity Ilford is expected to open in autumn with memberships starting from £45 per month, and concessionary rates available.

Linda Perham, chair of Vision RCL’s leisure and parks committee, said: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of Serenity Ilford, which reflects our continued commitment to improving access to inclusive and supportive health and wellbeing facilities.
“There is a clear and growing demand for female-only fitness spaces, and this initiative not only meets that demand but also empowers women in our community to prioritise their physical and mental wellbeing.
“We believe this gym will become a valued destination for women across Redbridge who are looking for a space that truly supports their health journey.”
