Sacks containing raw meat and rubbish as well as plastic crates and other rubbish left on the pavement outside Nour Damascus at 254 High Road, Willesden, were photographed by Brent Council enforcement officers who’ve been keeping watch since the beginning of 2024.
The owners were contacted to make proper waste removal arrangements — but repeatedly ignored warnings, according to the council.
The shop has now been fined £22,033 fine for eight offences of unlawful waste disposal.

“We have zero tolerance for filthy behaviour like this,” the council’s cabinet member for enforcement Krupa Sheth warned.
“This was serious ‘fowl play’ from a business that thought it could get away with it. The judgement should serve as a warning to every business to dispose of waste properly — or we’ll clean up in court.”
Another food store was fined £50,000 earlier this year for dumping fish, raw meat and general waste on public land.
Businesses have a legal duty to dispose of their waste responsibly, the authority points out. Members of the public are being urged to report any street dumping on its “report.brent.gov.uk” website or email dontmesswithbrent@brent.gov.uk.
