The shop, on Powis Street, will shut due to the forthcoming lease expiry, with the company stating it is “no longer sustainable” to continue trading from that location.
A spokesperson for WHSmith said: “We are disappointed to be losing our presence in Woolwich and we would like to thank all our customers for their support and for shopping with us.
“We are also extremely grateful for the commitment of our in-store colleagues who we will support with this transition and redeploy to nearby stores, where possible.”
The Woolwich closure is part of a wider strategy by WHSmith to shut down 15 stores across the UK.
The announcement of the Woolwich closure comes after WHSmith confirmed it is set to close stores across the UK in the coming months.
Two sites, in Bournemouth and Luton, closed on Saturday, January 18, while more sites are set to shut for good between now and the end of May, according to The Sun.
Closing down signs stating “everything must go” have already begun appearing on affected WHSmith stores.
