Whittington Park will host Storytelling Week from February 2 to 9, inviting residents of all ages to submit stories of any kind, from heartfelt memories to completely fictional adventures.
The event is organised by Whittington Park Community Association and aims to celebrate the art of storytelling while encouraging greater connection across the area.
Jo Corrall, centre manager at Whittington Park Community Centre, said: “We’re really looking forward to Storytelling Week. It’s a simple invitation for people to share a piece of themselves and see how stories can create connection across our community.”

Submitted stories will be printed on A4 paper and displayed throughout the park, creating an outdoor storytelling trail for visitors to enjoy as they explore the space. Organisers hope the event will bring people together and encourage creativity, emphasising that there is “no right or wrong way” to share a story.
A spokesperson for the project said: “Come and join us for a week of storytelling, sharing, and gentle celebration of the stories that make us, us. We’re inviting you to send us your stories — big or small, true or imagined. This is simply about storytelling — in all its forms.”
Islington people are invited to submit stories. There is no need for writing experience, and the event is open to anyone who wishes to take part. Stories might include reflections on everyday life, personal memories, or completely fictional tales.
The project is focused on participation rather than performance and is intended to be inclusive, accessible, and welcoming to all.
Participation is free, and residents can submit their stories by emailing Penelope@whittingtonpca.org.uk by February 2. For more information, contact Penelope at the same email address or call 020 3848 9251.
The Whittington Park Community Centre has served the Islington community since 1972, offering events, workshops, and services for people of all ages. The centre aims to create a space where everyone can connect, share experiences, and feel a sense of belonging.
