The Prudential Assurance Company and City of London Corporation submitted the application to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for the “demolition and phased mixed-use redevelopment” of the site, which will include buildings at both 130 and 133-137 Whitechapel High Street.
The proposal outlines the development of the area to include higher education and community spaces, purpose-built student accommodation, and retail floor space.
Alongside these plans, enhancements to the public realm and other associated works have also been proposed.
The bid was formally submitted on December 11, 2025.
The site address for the proposal has been confirmed as 133-137 Whitechapel High Street, and 130 Whitechapel High Street has also been listed.
The application was supported by Savills LTD on behalf of the applicants, The Prudential Assurance Company, and the City of London Corporation.
The deadline for representations from owners or tenants was January 1, 2026.
