East London as a whole saw a marginal 0.79 per cent decrease in reported crime from 13,672 offences in August to 13,564 in September.
Of the six boroughs in the east of the capital, only two saw lower crime counts in September compared to the previous month whilst the other four each saw increases.
Newham again had the highest crime count with 3,254 – down fractionally from 3,269 in August.
This was a 0.46pc decrease.
Theft, violence against the person and vehicle offences were the three most common crime types following the same trend as last month.
A total of 1,050 reports of theft were made whilst violence against the person was reported 887 times and vehicle offences 364 times.
Only theft saw a decrease in reports made from August.
The borough with the next highest number of crime reports was Tower Hamlets with 3,092 – down by 4.6pc from August.
Theft was reported 883 times whilst violence against the person was reported 823 times and burglary 262 times.
Theft was down substantially from August – by 13.26pc – and violence against the person was down 8.86pc whilst burglary rose by 29.7pc.
Next in the ranking was Redbridge with 2,089 criminal offences reported in September – which was up from 2,045 in August (a 2.15pc rise).
Violence against the person was the most common crime type in the borough with 703 counts whilst theft followed with 519 counts and vehicle offences next with 235.
The latter two both saw fractional increases from August’s figures.
Waltham Forest registered 1,917 reported incidents across September which was a 5.39pc rise from August’s total of 1,819.
The trend of the most recurring crime types across the east of the capital continued with violence against the person (528), theft (510) and vehicle offences (234) making up the top three.
Of these, only vehicle offences registered a higher total than the previous month.
Sexual offences, burglary and drug offences also saw increases.
In August, Barking and Dagenham had the lowest number of reported offences of the six boroughs but in September Havering finished bottom of the list.
Barking and Dagenham saw a rise of 10 reports to September’s total of 1,639 topped by violence against the person (661 cases), theft (253 cases) and vehicle offences (183 cases).
Violence against the person and vehicle offences both registered higher counts than the previous month as well as robbery.
Many crime types saw decreased counts from August including sexual offences, drug offences and possession of weapons.
With the lowest crime count in September 2025, Havering registered 1,573 reports – down by 5.75pc in August.
The most common crime types in Havering last month were violence against the person with 495 reports, theft with 365 reports and vehicle offences with 166 reports.
Violence against the person was up by 5.71pc from August whilst theft was down by 1.08pc and vehicle offences was up by 1.77pc.
Other crime types that saw lower totals in September were sexual offences, burglary and drug offences.
