On September 26, TfL announced that the proposal for the SL14 route – which will connect Stratford and Chingford – is now in public consultation.
People have until November 5 to provide feedback.
The SL14 would run from Stratford bus station to Chingford Hatch where its start and end point would be Hatch Lane.
It would operate as an express bus service, serving a limited number of key bus stops and rail interchanges, including in town centres and other busy locations along its route.
The full proposed route towards Stratford is as follows:
Hatch Lane, Grove Road (for Larkswood Leisure Park New Road), Hall Lane (Chingford Mount Road), Leonard Road (Chingford Mount Road), Walthamstow Stadium (Chingford Road), Guildsway (Billet Road), Shakespeare Road (Blackhorse Lane), Forest Road (for Blackhorse Road), St James Street, Queens Road (for Walthamstow Leisure Centre Markhouse Road), Gloucester Road (Church Road), Park Road (Church Road), Grange Park Road (High Road Leyton), Leyton (High Road Leyton), Stratford.
The full proposed route towards Chingford Hatch is as follows:
Stratford, Leyton (High Road Leyton), Grange Park Road (High Road Leyton), Park Road (Church Road), Gloucester Road (Church Road), Queens Road (Walthamstow Leisure Centre Markhouse Road), St James Street, Blackhorse Road, Shakespeare Road (Blackhorse Lane), Guildsway (Billet Road), Walthamstow Stadium (Chingford Road), Leonard Road (Chingford Mount Road), Grove Road (for Larkswood Leisure Park New Road), Hatch Lane.
The SL14 would operate alongside other local bus routes, such as routes 158 and 357.
TfL said: “This would create more room on board for customers along the busiest parts of route 158 and areas where new development is planned; such as near Leyton Tube station and along Blackhorse Road / Blackhorse Lane in Walthamstow.
“If the SL14 were to be introduced, subject to the outcome of consultation we would consider changing the frequency of services on route 158.”
The existing bus route D8, currently operating between Crossharbour Asda and Stratford bus station, would be diverted to cater for the new Superloop route.
The route would be changed after the junction with Stratford High Street and Warton Road to a different start and end point at Stratford City bus station, close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Westfield Stratford City.
This would be to create space for the SL14 at Stratford bus station.
The section of the D8 route between Crossharbour and the Stratford High Street junction with Warton Road would not change.
However, after Warton Road the D8 would no longer run via Stratford High Street to Stratford bus station.
Warton Road (bus stops B and C) and Stratford City bus station (bus stops S, W and X) would be added to the route whilst Warton Road (bus stop K), Stratford High Street / Carpenters Road (bus stops J and N) and Stratford bus station (bus stops AP and E) would no longer be served by the D8.
If approved, the new SL14 route would run seven days a week between 5am and 12.30am.
It would operate every 12 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 15 minutes during all evenings, on Sundays, and on early morning weekdays.
