In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
“His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.
“Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease, and he will move to alternative private accommodation.

“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.”
Buckingham Palace added: “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
What is the Mountbatten-Windsor Family and why is Andrew a member?
The Mountbattens are a very powerful British family known for their strong connection to the Royal Family.
The name Mountbatten is the anglicised version of the German surname Battenberg, with the name being changed during the First World War.

Connections to the Royal Family are very close, with Prince Phillip’s mother being Princess Alice of Battenberg and Lord Mountbatten playing a key role in the current king’s life.
The name Mountbatten-Windsor was created in the 1960s, combining both Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s surnames.
It is thought that the former Prince Andrew was allowed to keep his double-barrelled name as a concession, as he reportedly complained that his children would not bear his name.

Who is part of the Mountbatten-Windsor Family?
Because this name was made in the 1960s after Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip got married, it is used by current members of the Royal Family, including King Charles III.
However, it is only used on occasions where a surname is required, as members of the Royal Family who call themselves Prince or a Princess, or His/Her Royal Highness will typically not use a second name.
