Police were called by paramedics to the Grand Union Canal near Westbourne Park station at around 7.30pm yesterday (November 17).
A man was found stabbed and taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
His injuries have been assessed as neither life-threatening nor changing.
There have been no arrests and police are appealing to the public for more information.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 19.33hrs on Monday, 17 November following reports of an attempted robbery on the Grand Union Canal, near Westbourne Park.
“A man in his 40s was found with a stab wound and was taken to hospital by paramedics.
“His injuries have since been deemed not life-threatening or life-changing.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
“If you have any information that could help police, please call 101 quoting CAD 6770/17Nov.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.31pm yesterday (17 November) to reports of a stabbing in Great Western Road, W10.
“We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
