Troy Forbes, 48, of Page Avenue, Wembley, appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 1, where he pleaded guilty to possessing a fighting dog.
Prosecutor Hadia Ahmed said that on April 10 police officers were called to a domestic incident in Wembley that led to no further action.
Ms Ahmed said: “Mr Forbes was walking his dog when officers tried to approach him to arrest him.
“He made comments to the effect of ‘if you approach me the dog will attack you’. He was essentially using the dog as a deterrent to stop the police.”
Forbes is said to have told police “if you arrest me I will go crazy and my dog will attack you”.
The dog, identified by police as a prohibited breed pitbull terrier, was put down as a result of this incident.
At court Forbes was fined £80, told to pay £85 court costs, and was disqualified from owning a dog for five years.
