Trains from Paddington and Euston faced major disruption after people were hit by trains in separate incidents today (October 17).
Police were first called to Hanwell railway station in west London at around midday.
Paramedics joined officers and treated a casualty at the scene, who sadly died.
Elizabeth line, Great Western Railway and Heathrow Express trains faced delays and cancellations between Paddington, Heathrow Airport and Reading as lines were closed for the emergency services.
At around 3pm officers were then called to Watford High street station, on the Lioness line from London Euston.
The line was closed as the emergency services helped a casualty on the tracks.
A woman survived but sustained injuries that are “life-threatening and life-changing”, according to the British Transport Police.
All Lioness lines between Watford and London Euston were cancelled following the incident.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at around 12.15pm today (17 October) to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Hanwell railway station.
“Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
