Wantz Road car park – just off Oxlow Lane in Dagenham – has been closed by Barking and Dagenham Council for “cleaning and maintenance”.
A spokesperson for the authority said that the car park “continued to be vandalised”, including the removal of signs, while also becoming a “hotspot for fly-tipping”.
Although Wantz Road car park has only been closed temporarily, the council spokesperson also added that it is undergoing “further consideration”, so that the council can find “the best way to move forward with it”.
Wantz Road is one of seven council-run car parks in Barking and Dagenham.
It has faced issues in the past, with Barking and Dagenham Council having to clear up dumped cars in 2017.
