Produced by The Telegraph, itclaims to identify the “golden areas” of each of London’s 32 boroughs.
Two east London neighbourhoods were named in the top 10 best places to live in the city in 2026 – though no Redbridge locations made it into the shortlist.
Overall, Redbridge’s best neighbourhood placed at 29th out of the 32 London boroughs.
According to The Telegraph, Wanstead is the best neighbourhood in Redbridge to live in this year.
The Telegraph considered green spaces, commuting accessibility, good schools, and more when placing each neighbourhood, consulting with local estate agencies and Hamptons.
Many of the “golden areas” of each borough share “village-like features” including a central green, or high street with independent shops.
Wanstead includes the 140-acre Wanstead Park, containing ponds, ruins, and a temple.
The temple remembers the history of the park through the Roman, Regency, and Victorian periods, taking visitors through the history of the park’s Roman villa and more.
Another feature of Wanstead is the George & Dragon pub, which was originally built in 1716.
The watering hole was rebuilt in 1904, featuring a quirky and commemorative stone recounting the tale of the theft of a cherry pie.
The pub went by the name of The George under Wetherspoons, but closed down in October 2024.
It has since reopened under Urban Pubs & Bars.
