The incident happened near Walworth Road in Elephant and Castle at around 1.30am yesterday (January 1).
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found a man injured.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death is currently being treated as unexpected while enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “At around 1.30am on Thursday, 1 January, police on patrol were alerted by a member of the public to a person who had fallen from height in Elephant and Castle, Southwark.
“Officers, along with the London Ambulance Service, attended the scene and found a man in his 50s with injuries consistent with a fall from height.
“Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His death is currently being treated as unexpected while enquiries continue.”
