Police set up a crime scene on Walworth Road today (June 27) after being called to the scene at 7.24am.
A 40-year-old man was found with injuries and he was taken to hospital where his condition is not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Officers arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Enquiries are ongoing as police investigate the alleged assault.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “At 07:24hrs on Friday, 27 June officers and the London Ambulance Service responded to reports of an assault on Walworth Road, Southwark.
“One victim, a 40-year-old man, presented with injuries. He was taken to hospital where his condition was not deemed life-threatening or life-changing.
“A man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
“A crime scene has been established on Walworth Road and enquiries are ongoing.”
