Waltham Forest Council has announced temporary restrictions on roads in the borough to support gas and water network upgrades.
The first closure will be on The Charter Road in IG8 to allow Cadent Gas to carry out mains replacement works safely.
This closure will extend westward for 40 metres from its junction with Tammoryt Avenue.
The order takes effect on January 19, 2026, and will remain in place for up to six months, though works are expected to be finished within one month.
A second closure will affect Brandon Road in E17 for a new water connection installation by Thames Water Utilities.
This closure will cover 26 metres north-eastward from the junction with Wood Street.

The order comes into force on January 26, 2026, and will last for a maximum of one month, but the works are expected to take five days to complete.
Both orders have been extended beyond the estimated duration of works to allow for any unforeseen delays.
Vehicles found waiting or loading in violation of these orders would be removed.
Controlled parking spaces within the affected areas will also be suspended for the duration of the works.
Exemptions to the restrictions will apply for vehicles involved in the works and, if circumstances allow, for emergency service vehicles.
Signage would be placed in advance of any works to indicate the exact dates of the restrictions and effects of any changes to existing traffic management.
Signage will also indicate diversion routes as necessary.
The traffic orders are under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and are intended to ensure the safety of both the public and workers during the planned utility upgrades.
