The college’s business and enterprise hub is to help local micro businesses and small and medium enterprises, driving innovation and economic growth.
The hub in Forest Road, Walthamstow offers office and conference spaces, alongside specialist business support.
Regular advice will be given on how to turn ideas into businesses, and support will be provided in the early years of incubation.
At the launch event, Howard Dawber, deputy mayor of London for business and growth, said: “London’s one million small businesses are the backbone of our economy.
“This partnership between City Hall, London and Partners, and Waltham Forest College is a part of the mayor’s mission to help grow London’s economy.”
As part of the event, Grow London Local, who are part of London & Partners, delivered a seminar on free business advice and support available to SMEs.
Michael Morley, group director at the Department for Work and Pensions, and Dr Amanjit Jhund, chief executive of Whipps Cross Hospital, also spoke at the event.
Janet Gardner, principal and chief executive of Waltham Forest College, said: “We are committed to shaping the future economy by equipping students and local communities with the skills that employers need.
