Havering Council has granted planning permission to the proposal concerning 67 – 71 Victoria Road.
At present, the site is formed of shops to the front facing onto the road, with a car parking area to the rear.
One of the commercial properties is occupied by 45-year-old aquatic pet store Wet Pets.
Next to Wet Pets sits the former Twins Wedding Shop, which is believed to have permanently closed in November last year after 45-years of service across three generations of the family.
How the development could look (Image: DCSK.design) The site has been subject to several planning applications seeking to redevelop the grounds into flats and homes, and was recently listed on Zoopla for more than £1 million.
The most recent application by planning advisors CarneySweeney was given conditional approval on March 18, for the “demolition of the existing buildings and redevelopment of the site to provide a mix of residential units”.
Documents accompanying the proposal referred to plans for an apartment building to be erected at the front of the property, with two apartments per floor over three storeys.
Each apartment is planned to accommodate up to four people with two bedrooms.
The car parking area will be landscaped as an open and shared amenity space.
To the rear of the site, it is planned to create a terrace of three homes all reaching a maximum of two-and-a-half storeys in height.

Two of these terraced homes are planned to be three-beds suitable for five people, whilst the third would be a two-bed property suitable for four people.
The total residential provision on site is for nine homes.
The approved plans also included details to rid the site of five parking bays, creating a single disabled bay and 20 cycle parking spaces.
Havering Council issued its approval with a lengthy list of 31 conditions, ranging from those concerning wheelchair accessibility, the provision of electric vehicle charging points and more.
