Plans for the town’s very own branch of the hotel chain were approved in 2023, with works beginning in June.

As part of the redevelopment of the site in Station Road, existing buildings on the land required demolition.
Photos taken this morning (November 16) by drone have revealed changes to the site since the last photos were captured in September, when the site still very much consisted of dirt and soil.

Significant progress has been made with the laying of foundations, particularly to the front of the site onto Station Lane.

Concrete has been poured with reinforcing and rebar mesh metal grids in place behind this, presumably ready for the next concrete pour.
Two diggers were captured to the rear of the site, where it appears some landscaping works are being undertaken.
It is expected that the 82-room hotel will be completed between April and June next year.
