The Curious Minds Festival will run until August 31 at the Oxford Street museum, promising a packed timetable of artistic, scientific, magical, and musical themed weeks suitable for all ages.
The festival will open with ‘Magic Week,’ aiming to enrapture guests with illusions and performances, from Saturday, July 19, to Saturday, July 27.
Visitors can witness dazzling daytime magic throughout the week.
Thursdays will be ‘Twilight Thursdays’, especially designed for adult audiences.
Science Week follows, running from Sunday, July 28, to Saturday, August 3, with shows and experiments designed to provoke curiosity.
Day events will see science shows and hands-on fun with the museum’s Einstein Entertainers, while an adult-only science event will take place after hours on Thursday.
Art Week takes place from Sunday, August 4, to Saturday, August 10, and invites everyone to step into optical illusions and engage in hands-on art activities during the day.
This includes bread painting, which is a technique often used in art therapy.
Running from Sunday, August 11, to Saturday, August 17, Mindfulness Week seeks to provide a tranquil escape for all visitors.
Daytime will feature mindful movement sessions for kids, while the evening will have an immersive electronic music and art show.
Music Week, from Sunday, August 18, to Saturday, August 24, is all about rhythm and melody.
Daytime will gear towards getting children dancing, while Thursday night will be packed with tunes suited for an older crowd.
Creativity Week runs from Sunday, August 25, to Saturday, August 31, and provides the chance for people of all ages to try their hands at stop-motion animation.
While children can enjoy workshops during the day, the adults will have the chance to unleash their creativity after work at the evening session.
Interactive workshops for children will take place daily, providing experiences that span from art classes and slow-motion animation to mindful movement and music.
Each session has limited spots, making sure every child gets a hands-on, interactive experience.
Ticket add-ons are priced from £9 per person.
For the first time, ‘Twilight Thursdays’ welcomes adults into the museum from 7pm until 10pm, hosting a series of after-hours experiences.
Each week, a different theme unfolds, from live sculptures and science shows to magical workshops and musical treats.
In addition, those eligible will be able to buy alcoholic or soft drinks.
This adds a “grown-up” touch that goes with the light-hearted focus of the festival.
Tickets for Twilight Thursdays can be bought as an add-on from £12.50 per person.
To get a glimpse of the future of museums, people can head along to Oxford Street this summer.
