The retailer announced that it would be closing 18 stores by the end of the year, starting with its Twickenham branch on King Street which closed on October 5.
This is part of the closure of 18 of its nationwide stores.
Alongside this the retailer announced the closure of all of its UK stores for three days on Christmas Day (Thursday, December 25), Boxing Day (Friday, December 26), and New Year’s Day (Thursday, January 1), to offer colleagues a “proper festive break”.
Announcing the decision last week, the high street chain said the decision was to thank staff for their work over one of the “most challenging years” for the chain.
Darren MacDonald, Country Manager UK at Poundland, said: “It’s no secret that 2025 has been one of our most challenging years, but the support and commitment from our colleagues has been nothing short of amazing – and I’m delighted we can renew our commitment to give them the time they deserve over the holidays.
“I know how much our colleagues are looking forward to making shopping in stores a magical experience this year — and we’re proud to support them with a proper festive break.”
