Drone photos taken on Friday (June 27) show the initial groundworks underway at 11 Station Road, where a Travelodge is expected to open in 2026.

Two diggers and a skip are pictured on the site, which is boarded up, with the Aldi car park in the background.

Photos taken previously show the area after demolition, including a large mound of earth covered with tarpaulin.

Works on the new Travelodge started in June, however were paused last week due to the “heat”.

The break has not impacted the overall schedule, a spokesperson for developer London Iron Works confirmed, with the hotel still on track for completion between April and June 2026.

Plans were approved for the 82-room Travelodge in 2024, with the site undergoing demolition in January this year.

Proposals for a restaurant or cafe on the ground floor of the hotel have also moved a step closer, with Havering Council approving a planning amendment to allow hot food to be sold on the premises.

Restaurant chain Loungers Ltd – which owns Lounge, Cosy Club and Brightside – also applied for a premises licence for the site at the end of May.
