Travelodge, located on North Circular Road in Park Royal, was inspected by Ealing Council on Thursday, November 20 and found to require “urgent improvement” across all categories of food safety.
Major failings were identified in hygienic food handling, cleanliness and facilities and the management of food safety processes.
When approached for a comment, a Travelodge spokesperson said: “We take health and safety extremely seriously and as soon as we became aware of an isolated issue at our Wembley hotel we took immediate action to address this.
“The hotel’s Bar Café is trading as normal and we’re working to get its hygiene rating reassessed as soon as possible to reflect our usual high standards.
“All other Bar Cafés across our estate hold a rating of either four or five out of five.”
The council found that the handling of food, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage, required urgent improvement.
The report also concluded that the condition of the facilities, covering layout, ventilation, handwashing and pest control, fell short of enabling good food hygiene.
Management of food safety was another area of concern, with inspectors lacking confidence in the systems in place to keep food safe or that staff fully understood food safety requirements.
Customer reviews on Google have raised concerns about food quality as well.
Vlada Pavlichenko said: “Breakfast, don’t bother, the picture of it looks nice but in the reality it is not worth it.
“Eggs are not eggs, I think they came from some processed greenish mixture.”
Sacha Dingle added: “Food was pretty bad, we had the breakfast which was pretty awful.
“Sausages had hairs on.
“Hashbrowns were cold and dead and there were no orange and apple juice as advertised.”
