Police were called to the attack on Williamson Road at 6am on August 14.
Officers found a 47-year-old man who said he had been threatened with a knife by a suspect at a cash machine.
The man was forced to take out money before he was beaten and stripped naked with all his belongings then stolen.
The police have described the robbery as “horrific” and are appealing to the public for help finding the suspect.
The suspect is described as a white male, aged around 30, 5ft 10ins tall, with dirty blond hair.
He was wearing a purple jacket, three-quarter length shorts, and dark Nike Air Max 95 trainers.
He was carrying a green backpack, and had a pair of headphones around his neck.
DC David Medeck, from the Northern Area Command Unit, said: “We have released this image of a man we would like to speak to following this horrific robbery.
“Despite extensive efforts to trace him, we now need the public’s help.
“If you know or recognise this man, please contact us immediately.”
