Set to reopen near the end of 2026, the former Museum of London at London Wall will unveil its new branding under the name London Museum in a fresh location, as it takes up residence in Smithfield Market.
The new venue will boast an underground gallery space in the old Great Northern Railway depot.
A big window in the market’s old salt store allowing visitors to watch trains carry passengers through Farringdon – a feature meant to connect the museum to the ‘London of today’.
A major decade-spanning project, the London Museum’s rebirth will coincide with its significant 50th anniversary.
Despite usual speculation about potential opening exhibitions, details have not yet been released, but with so much London-centric content to choose from, spectators can expect an exciting line-up.
Time Out announced the London Museum at the top of their list of most exciting new activities and venues of 2026.
The announcement not only stressed its novel rebranding, featuring a ceramic pigeon logo, but its new Smithfield Market home.
