A casualty on the tracks was reported at the station in Brigstock Road at 6.40pm on Saturday (December 27).
Officers attended, however, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
A BTP spokesperson said; “Officers were called to Thornton Heath railway station at 6.40pm on Saturday (27 December) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
