It won’t be long until its back-to-school time, but there are still plenty of family-friendly activities planned in and around Havering to keep everyone happy until then.
From an “end of summer carnival” to free crafts and a silent disco, here are five events to look out for.

Five things to do in and around Havering this August bank holiday
Summer of Play at Rainham Hall
National Trust property Rainham Hall will continue to run its carnival games in the community garden over the bank holiday weekend.
Games are free to play, with no booking needed and free entry to the garden between 11am and 4.30pm each day.
Families can choose from self-led puppet shows, hoopla and mini golf.
End of Summer Carnival at Hopefield Animal Sanctuary

Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Brentwood is waving goodbye to summer with a carnival, from 10am until 4pm every day of the bank holiday weekend.
This will feature a mini Ferris wheel, bouncy castles and funfair rides, an entertainer and a BBQ.
Under 2s go free, while adult and children’s tickets start from £9 and include entry to the sanctuary.
Craft workshops at The Liberty
The Liberty Shopping Centre in Romford has been running its free “magical” craft workshops throughout the summer holidays and the bank holiday is no different.
The workshops planned for this weekend include cork rainbow and chocolate coins, mythological monsters finger puppets and paper plate merpeople.
On Monday (August 25) there will also be free face painting and live performances from mythical characters.
Hornchurch Cricket Club Family Fun Day
Hornchurch Cricket Club has a charity family fun day planned for Harrow Lodge Park in Hornchurch on Sunday (August 24).
Lasting from 10am until 7pm, the free event will feature cricket tournaments, food stalls, entertainment and face painting.
Silent disco at The Deer’s Rest

The Deer’s Rest pub, in Noak Hill, is hosting its first ever silent disco this Sunday (August 24) between 2pm and 6pm.
Set to be held in the beer garden, the disco is one of the pub’s Summer Sunday events.
Headphones are £3 each and all ages are welcome.
