The Winch in Swiss Cottage held a Diwali lunch, organised by its head of partnerships Chitra, who prepared a spread featuring samosas, biryani, and aloo gobi.

Chitra said: “The celebration was a wonderful reminder of the diversity and warmth within our team.
“It was lovely to share a bit of my culture and the meaning behind Diwali with everyone.”
She also spoke to the team about the customs and significance of Diwali, a celebration of light triumphing over darkness, and a time for renewal, connection, and gratitude.
The Winch, in Winchester Road, has been part of Camden life for more than 50 years. It began in 1972 when a group of 13 residents reclaimed and repurposed the derelict Winchester Arms pub, repairing it from the ground up with the community’s help.
It regularly marks cultural and community events to promote understanding and connection among staff, volunteers, and the wider community.
