The Urswick School celebrated a 5 per cent rise in the number of students achieving five Grade 5s and above in their GCSEs compared with last year.
Among the successful was Elijah Summers, who achieved nine GCSEs at Grades 8 and 9, including Grade 9s in English, English literature, and music.
Elijah said: “I am so happy with my grades and want to thank all my teachers for their support.”

She said: “I want to thank Ms Dudley, my history teacher, who helped me go from a Grade 6 to a Grade 9.
“I am so happy with my results.”
Olayinka Azeez marks results day as Urswick’s outgoing Head Boy (Image: The Urswick School) Olayinka Azeez, the Year 11 head boy 2024-2025, passed nine GCSEs at Grade 7 or above, with Grade 9s in history, RE, and science.
Olayinka said: “I am very proud of my results and of being head boy this past year.
“I am really looking forward to my next steps in The Urswick School Sixth Form.”
Executive headteacher Richard Brown, who is retiring later this month after 17 years at Urswick, said: “It is easy to forget that this year group were in lockdown at the end of primary school and joined Urswick when all sorts of COVID restrictions were in place.
“They have demonstrated remarkable resilience and are a credit to their families and the school.
“Teachers have also worked amazingly hard to support the students, including putting on extra classes after school and during the holidays.
“This is a proud day for us all.”
