The borough features on an annual list compiled by The Times.
This list has been published annually since 2013 and is usually put together by a panel of expert judges, but this year they are letting numbers do the talking.
By looking at data for nine different categories such as education, healthcare and crime, The Times has ranked each local authority in England.
Each category was weighted equally and measured with a numerical value from 1 to 291 – the lower the score, the better.
Redbridge has placed 66th – the second highest placed borough in east London, after Tower Hamlets in 33rd.
The quality of education in Redbridge is the leading factor for the borough’s high placement.
A score of 22 was given for the borough’s schools, which looked at the percentage of schools rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
A score of 15 was also given in the ‘Progress 8’ category, which records the average attainment 8 score for 2023-24.
Both of Redbridge’s education scores were better than Cheltenham and Stroud’s – the boroughs placed second and third in the overall rankings.
The borough’s healthcare was also ranked relatively well, according to the data.
The ‘NHS target’ looked at the percentage of patients seen for treatment in 18 weeks after referral as of October 2024. This was given a score of 48, whilst the ‘NHS waiting time’ was scored 39.
But the borough ranked poorly for ‘satisfaction with GPs’ with a score of 259.
Despite being placed 33 spots lower, Redbridge scored better than Tower Hamlets in the ‘crime’ category, where it was given a value of 135.
This was measured through the number of offences in the area per 1,000 people as of March 2024.
