Founded in Copenhagen in 2016 to fight food waste, Too Good To Go is now “the world’s largest surplus food market place” according to its website.
The app works with food businesses to offer packages of surplus food and drink to customers, often at the end of the working day, at a much-reduced price.
The company has grown to more than 100 million registered users and 175,000 business partners across 19 countries in Europe and North America.
In Romford, several companies are part of the Too Good To Go scheme and are offering food and grocery packages at the end of the day.
Turkish restaurant Mangal Meze is one of multiple eateries offering hot food packages in South Street.
Also in South Street, Wenzel’s the Bakers and Chopstix Noodle Bar are both signed up to the scheme.
The Spark by Hilton hotel offers a ‘breakfast surprise bag’ between 9.30 and 10.30am.
Romford’s shopping centres house several businesses involved in the scheme.
The Liberty Shopping Centre’s Muffin Break, Starbucks and Cafe W all offer baked goods whilst Pizza Express, Toby Carvery, Starbucks and Desiflamess Indian Street Food offer a range of packages in The Brewery.
Other eateries in Romford that have Too Good To Go packages include Auntie Anne’s and Sushi Boom, both in Western Road, Nande Afro Caribbean Restaurant in Victoria Road, Harvester in Main Road and Pausa Cafe in Eastern Avenue.
Two Greggs stores are available on the app – located in Western Road and Bryant Avenue.
Two Costa Coffee outlets are also involved in the scheme – located in the Brewery Retail Park and Eastern Avenue.
Too Good To Go packages aren’t limited to restaurants and cafes though as multiple supermarkets around Romford offer bags of surplus groceries that can no longer be sold in store.
Three Aldi stores offering ‘surprise grocery bags’ are available on the app – they are located in Rom Valley Way, Marlborough Road and Collier Row Road.
Budgens in London Road, Asda Express at Romford Station and Rush Green Food Centre in Rush Green Road are also all part of the scheme.
