The Cricketers Public House was opened in High Street in 1830.
It replaced one of the first licenced alehouses named in a list by Liberty of Havering Magistrates between 1770 and 1782, that went by the name of The Bull.
According to Havering Libraries, others that made the list include The Crown, The Bell, The Crooked Billet, The King’s Head, The Parrot, The Harrow, and The White Hart.

The club is understood to have been of great local importance in the village, but also in the county of Essex.

Later in 1938, the original pub was demolished and replaced with the current venue.
Before closing in June 2023, the pub went by the name of O.J.’s in 2011, and the George II in 2014, before its final name change to The Rising Sun in from 2018.
