Urbanist Architecture, on behalf of AMS Investments Group, has submitted an outline planning application to convert The Old White Horse, in Ockendon Road, into nine new homes.
Outline applications ask for permission on only the basic details of a proposed development to decide if the concept is acceptable in principle.
The pub building itself, which dates back to 18th Century according to Havering Libraries, would be kept and turned into two self-contained flats, while seven more houses are proposed for the pub’s grounds.
Planning documents reveal that these new homes – proposed to be built in the boozer‘s car park and beer garden areas – would each feature three bedrooms across up to two storeys.
All but one of the homes are proposed to be semi-detached under the outline application, with a total of 17 parking spaces planned across the development.
Havering Council is expected to make a decision on the plans by February 12.
If approved, building works could start as early as July 2026 – with construction anticipated to cost between £2 million and £100 million in total.
The Old White Horse was sold to an unknown buyer in February 2025, according to estate agent Fleurets, following its closure in 2022.
