The Mercury Shopping Centre’s annual Giving Tree campaign, being supported by the Recorder, is calling on the public to donate this Christmas.
The campaign benefits families living in Havering Women’s Aid refuges and Havering patients of all ages in hospital who will spend the festive season away from home.

Ray Morgon, leader of Havering Council, said: “I was very happy to participate in the launch of the Giving Tree to support Havering’s Women’s Aid Refuge as this complements the campaign which Havering Council is running to stop violence against women and girls.”
The centre is collecting gifts for a wide range of recipients, including mothers and women in refuges, children, and elderly people staying in hospitals.
Suggested donations include well being gifts, accessories, make up, books, crafting gifts, and soaps.
A centre spokesperson said: “This is an urgent call out to everyone who wants to make a real difference to vulnerable people in Havering this Christmas.”
Further information about the campaign, including a full list of suggested gifts and drop-off details, is available at www.themercurymall.co.uk or follow @themercuryshoppingcentre on social media.
To take part and donate, gifts can be dropped off at the Lumiere Cinema on Level 3 of The Mercury, or at the centre’s management suite, also on Level 3.
