The Lord Tredegar is located in Lichfield Road and has roots dating back to the 1760s, according to landlady Mary Parham.
Its name is understood to have been inspired by a military man, Sir Charles Morgan, who had links to the local area and Mile End.
Tredegar is believed to refer to a farm in south Wales that formed part of the Morgan family’s properties.
The pub was restored to “its former glory” after being taken on by Remarkable in 2013.

Beyonce has been the watering hole’s resident cat for around eight years, having been born at a nearby pub.
Mary said: “She was born in a sister pub of ours just up the road at The Royal Inn on the Park. She ended up getting placed down here.
“She’s been here ever since. She’s like the queen of the pub.”
Beyonce recently celebrated her tenth birthday, with a coaster decorating competition held in her honour.
Customers were asked to submit their Beyonce-inspired drinks coasters, with the entries winning first, second, and third place all being printed and distributed throughout The Lord Tredegar.

“We had a really nice like family day and did games and stuff and treasure hunts and then in the evening lots of people came and had a few drinks on her behalf.
“It’s ridiculous how popular she is. People come far and wide to see her.
“She just sits at the end of the bar on her cushion every night. She has her cushion and in the winter she’s always next to the fire.”
People journey to the pub just to see the cat, who is described to have the “classic cat personality” of being generally disinterested and dismissive.

Mary finds amusement in the feline’s reputation.
She added: “She (Beyonce) sort of rules the roost in that she will sit at the end of the bar for the whole night.”
Mary described the pub as being “off the beaten track”, serving local beers to pair with its period features and community feel.
