The actor and DJ owns Porte Noire in King’s Cross with his business partner, David Farber.
Elba is best known for appearing in TV shows Luther, The Wire and Hijack and films The Suicide Squad, The Dark Tower, Beast, Pacific Rim, Thor, Zootopia and The Harder They Fall.
But alongside his passion for the arts, Elba shows off his love for wine and food at the popular Porte Noire.
Porte Noire, the ‘exclusive’ London restaurant owned by Idris Elba
The Porte Noire website shares that it was “born out of a shared passion for wine between Frenchman and oenophile, David Farber and Renaissance man, Idris Elba.”
Adding that the pair’s venture began in 2018 when they visited the Sanger viticultural school in Champagne, France.
The duo later opened Porte Noire together, a restaurant and wine bar, an “intimate space inspired by the wine bars of continental Europe.”
Describing the menu, the Porte Noire website shares that it is “earthy, with elevated comfort food worthy of accompanying” some of its best bottles.
In 2024, the restaurant was awarded 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence.
Porte Noire offers a range of meals, including black cod, whole lobster, slow-cooked beef bourguignon pie, beef tartare, hand-divided scallops and a veal tomahawk.
On Google Reviews, Porte Noire Kings Cross has an impressive rating of 4.5 out of 5 from more than 430 reviews.
While on TripAdvisor, the restaurant has a score of 4 out of 5 from over 50 reviews.
One recent guest to Porte Noire wrote: “The place is an absolute delight!
