It comes after a sign at the entrance to one of The Brewery’s car parks caught the eyes of customers last week.
The sign read: “From September 21 £1 surface level parking on Sundays. FREE multi-storey parking on Sundays.”
At present the shopping centre does not charge shoppers to park in either of its facilities on Sundays, but charges for weekend parking at the surface level car park are already notably higher than the charges set for the multi-storey.
It is understood to be the first time shoppers have been asked to pay for Sunday parking at the car park which provides 616 parking spaces, of which 50 are designated disabled spaces.
According to The Brewery, the change to weekend charges is expected to “ease congestion” in the area.

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that from 21st September The Brewery will be introducing a new £1 flat rate charge for parking in the surface level car park on Sundays.
“The multi-storey car park will remain free of charge every Sunday. This small change aims to ease Sunday congestion on Waterloo Road by encouraging use of the multi-storey car park.
“We remain committed to providing excellent value and convenience for our visitors, and we thank our customers for their continued support as we make this small adjustment.”
