The Brewery has had its planning application for a series of changes to Arcade Place – the walkway linking the main car park side to Exchange Street – approved.
The proposals, submitted by Romford Property Unit Trust in November last year, include a new canopy above Boots and Gap, improved lighting and a refresh of the stairwell.
Havering Council’s planning team granted the planning permission, with conditions such as completing the works within three years and using the materials detailed in the plans.
The planning officer’s report said: “The proposed works would be considered acceptable to generally enhance the appearance, accessibility, functionality, and safety of Arcade Place while maintaining a sense of identity and cohesiveness within the Brewery centre.

“The proposals would focus on improving the overall visitor experience and aesthetics.
“It is therefore recommended that planning permission subject to conditions be granted.”
Another Romford shopping centre, The Liberty, has also had refurb plans approved, with the works at one of its entrances already underway.
The application is part of The Brewery’s wider “rebranding”, which includes new signs across the shopping centre featuring a new logo.
A spokesperson for The Brewery previously told the Recorder it is “really excited” about the upcoming refurbishment, which aims to “enhance the overall shopping experience of our visitors”.
