Over the decades, London has seen many tube stations close their doors for good, with the likes of Down Street, Brompton Road and Mark Lane all disappearing from the London Underground.
While closed-down stations are left frozen in time, some are repurposed, like South Kentish Town station, which closed in the 1920s and is now home to an escape room.
Former station, Fulham Broadway, has recently been transformed, becoming a Wetherspoon pub.
The abandoned station that’s now a Wetherspoon pub
Fulham Broadway first opened in March 1880 as Walham Green and would operate on the District Railway, now known as the District Line.
The original station building was replaced in 1905 with a new entrance and in 1952, the station became Fulham Broadway.
The tube station shut down for good in 2003 and began operating as a food court in 2018, but closed in 2021.
Now, the former station is a Wetherspoon pub, under the name of Walham Green, that still features many of the original building’s characteristics.
The Grade II listed property was designed by the railway company architect Harry W Ford, who created many of the tube station designs from the Victorian era.

The Walham Green pub opened its doors in June 2025 and features a glass roof with splashes of green colour dotted around the venue.
The bar of the pub is set within a ticket office designed with signs paying homage to its previous use, reading “to the trains” and “assistance and tickets”.
The pub even has a rooftop terrace with a few tables and chairs, making it an ideal spot for the warmer months.
